California College Republicans (CCR) has successfully become the College Republicans™ — after proving usage of the term and acquired distinctiveness stretching back to 1963, and registering a state trademark with the California Secretary of State.
After dealing with multiple fractures in the organization in 1963, 1987, and 2019 — with the most recent attempt leading to fights over the College Republicans name — as well as online retailers using CCR’s name and logo without permission, CCR decided to pursue additional protection of its organization and storied name.
All chapters of CCR are granted the right to use the “College Republicans” name and trademark.
Moxie History
Moxie was originally CCR's print Magazine, which ran from c. 2003-2011. Moxie functioned as both a news source and a yearbook for College Republicans before the social media age. Moxie was very popular in its print days — and even made its way in the hands of prominent political commentator Sean Hannity! Chairmen Emeriti Dylan Martin and Nick Ortiz revived Moxie in 2020 as CCR's news arm.
