Are You Allowed to Vote or Run for CCR Office?

Only members may vote and run for office in CCR. In order to be verified as a member, CCR requires chapters to update their chartering information with us every year. Failure to submit chartering information will disqualify a chapter's members from voting or running for office at convention. Delegates may vote to waive the requirements and admit delegates from a chapter that did not meet deadline on a case by case basis, so long as that chapter was previously in good standing.

To ensure your club charter is updated for convention, please submit the following to credentials@cacollegegop.com by June 15th at midnight:

  1. List of your Executive Board members, their positions, and their emails
  2. Form of school recognition for your club (RSO portal, letter affirming your registration with your campus as a student org, etc)
  3. List of your active members with names and email addresses
  4. A copy of your Constitution/ Bylaws — with this section added to it: New Constitution Requirement. If you cannot add this section by June 15th, explain why and affirm that it will be added at next opportunity.

These member lists will confirm who the members are from each chapter. All confirmed members in attendance at convention will be automatically made delegates and can vote. Only students and Board of Directors members may vote on student member elections. A student ID may be required to verify student status. Alumni may only vote on Alumni elections and the General Session docket.

Elections

To run for CCR office, you must declare your intent to run 60 days before the election, or April 21, 2025. You must meet all qualifications of the position you are running for. Failure to declare by deadline and meet qualifications for office by date of election will result in disqualification. Please declare your intent to run for an office by contacting the Executive Committee at exec@cacollegegop.com by April 21st at 11:59pm.

If someone wishes to run from the floor of convention, the convention delegates can allow candidates to run from the floor by a 3/4 vote. Otherwise, vacancies will be filled by appointment according to the bylaws.

You may run for multiple offices — but if you win multiple races, you may only choose 1 to be sworn into and the runners-up in other races shall take those seats instead.

If you wish to run for Chairman, the Chair is elected among the members of the Board of Directors, meaning you must first be a member of the Board of Directors to be elected Chairman. But you must declare your intent to run for Chair 30 days prior to the election, then subsequently meet qualifications to be elected Chair by the date of election.

The following are current candidates for election. Incumbents are marked (I) and those that formerly held an office are marked (F). Regional candidates are elected only among delegates from schools in their region. Voting shall be public, conducted by a counted rising vote (standing up or raising note cards). In each competitive election, candidates may give a 2 minute speech, but may not disparage a fellow candidate. These rules will be strictly enforced to ensure decorum and civility.

CCR Bylaws Article IV § 7 states of the Board of Directors officers that all "are elected to approximately one year terms, beginning at the convention at which they are elected or appointed and ending at the next convention." As such, the positions of Parliamentarian and Secretary may remain vacant unless the sitting chairman or BOD appoint an interim officer, or the next chairman fills the vacancy.
